Review the questions and see which ones you answered that are labeled C or D. Those are the questions where growth is needed or action should be taken. Your goal is to become stronger in the weak areas so that you can confidently re-answer the questions next time, choosing either A or B. Perhaps you need more prayer time with your child, and they need to see you praying more often. Or perhaps you need to spend more time reading Bible stories and discussing what is being read and how to apply in life the take-a-way from the story.

You are preparing the soil for your children to grow in their relationship with God from the time they are in the womb to three years of age. From three to seven years of age, you are planting the seeds that will hopefully produce roots deep enough to support spiritual growth throughout their lives. This all takes place within a loving family dynamic. Children develop this foundational truth from watching and listening to what the adults in their lives do and say. Consistency is imperative and a key element because it can be hard to know exactly when your child will grasp a biblical concept. Be consistent in modeling a positive attitude and a loving relationship with Jesus. You exhibit who Jesus is – always loving, faithful, and present.

According to the Apostle Paul, “But as for you, continue in what you have learned…from infancy you have known the Holy Scriptures, which are able to make you wise for salvation through faith in Christ Jesus” (2 Timothy 3:14-15). Nothing can prepare children for life lessons more effectively than the Word of God. His Word claims that “a good person leaves an inheritance for their children’s children…” (Proverbs 13:22), and the righteous “will be remembered forever” (Psalm 112:6).  A remembrance is an inheritance, a legacy, and a legacy is very powerful. The legacy of Jesus lasts forever.
