Lee Ann also emphasizes the significance of spending quality time with God, highlighting the importance of seeking Him first!
Use this simple “not to do” list:
- Quit comparing: If you constantly compare your children to others, it can lead them to believe you don’t like them even if you love them, or it could even cause them to resent or dislike you. If you are going to compare – compare in a positive way. (Ref. Colossians 3:5, James 3:16, and Galatians 6:4-6.)
- Stop shortchanging time with God: According to statistics, moms work an average of 14 hours a day, and the average mom starts her day at 6:23 a.m. and ends her day at 8:31 p.m., with only 1.7 hours of free time. There is not a lot of time in the day for mothers; therefore, we should try to make time with the Lord through an online Bible study, listening to worship music in the car, placing scripture around the house, saying quick, simple prayers throughout the day, or constantly praising God throughout the day. (Ref. Matthew 6:33).
- Stop relying on your own strength: Remember we are the body of Christ, and we are there to help each other, lift each other up, and be there to support, guide, and love each other; if your children see you doing it all on your own and never asking for help, they could grow up to believe that it is wrong to ask for help or advice, or that only a weak person asks for assistance. (Ref. Ecclesiastes 4:9 & Galatians 6:2).
- Don’t give space in your head to doubt, fear, and worry: Worry is a tool of the devil; worry and doubt can cause us to fear and anticipate trouble. Read the book of Esther – even though the name of God is not mentioned and the Jews were facing death, God was working behind the scenes. He is working behind the scenes for you and your family as well! (Ref. Philippians 4:8 & Corinthians 10:5).
