4 Fun and Easy Family Activities for Your 2022 Summer! 1200 628 Lee Ann Mancini

“This is the only summer of 2022, so make some wonderful family memories.”

I love this statement from my pastor because it helps me to be more intentional with the moments I have. The Lord desires for us to live life abundantly and to enjoy each day. Philippians 4:4 states, Rejoice in the Lord always. Again I will say, rejoice.” Planning fun summer activities don’t have to be expensive or time-consuming. Below are some ideas to help kick-start your summer festivities.

Kool-Aid Popsicles

Who doesn’t love popsicles on a hot summer day? It’s simple and inexpensive. Start by making some Kool-Aid in your child’s favorite flavor, then pour the drink into paper or plastic cups. Plastic ice cube makers work well too. After freezing for 2 hours (or until almost firm), place a wooden popsicle stick or plastic spoon into the center of each portion. Freeze for another 4 hours or until the Kool-Aid is firm. Finally, serve cold and enjoy!

Flashlight Tag

After it’s cool for the evening, grab some flashlights and play a game of flashlight tag. Each person has their own flashlight (you can buy these at your local dollar store). The rules are the same as regular Tag, except you use a flashlight to ‘tag’ another. When the person who is “it” tags another with the light from the flashlight, the person they tag is ‘it.’ This is a wonderful activity for the whole family – and a great way to get some exercise!

Slip-‘N’-Slide

Kids LOVE this activity and it’s fun for adults, too! All you need is water, duct tape, sturdy trash bags(or a tarp), and some dish soap. First, duct tape several trash bags together to form a long sliding path – if you aren’t using a large tarp. Then, spray the “slide” and squeeze dish soap all over. After, have the kids swish the soap all around to make the surface slippery, being careful not to get the soap in their eyes. Once the soap is distributed evenly over the bags, spray the area with water again. Now it is ready to slip -n- slide. Enjoy!

I have come that they may have life, and that they may have it more abundantly. John 10:10

Balloon Volleyball

For inside fun this summer, take a piece of thread, string, or whatever works best, and lay it on the floor in an open space. Blow up a balloon and play volleyball. The key is to not let the balloon touch the floor. This can be played with multiple balloons as well, which adds to the fun and excitement. Kids will enjoy trying to keep the balloon(s) afloat.

This month, we celebrate our Independence as a nation. We are so blessed to live in a country where we are free to get an education, work, celebrate, and live life to the fullest. However, our greatest independence is found in the saving grace of Jesus who shed His blood and gave His life for our sins. It’s through Him that we have the opportunity to live a life of purpose, passion, and potential. May we give of ourselves as Christ has given to us and may we thrive in knowing that our abundance is found in Him alone.

Greater love has no one than this, than to lay down one’s life for his friends. John 15:13
