Do Parents Need a Plan Not to Fail? Lee Ann Mancini

If God is a planner, those who are raising Christian kids should be too!

So, where do you start to formulate a plan?

The most important plan is a well-prayed-over and thought-out plan on how you will raise your child to become a strong, Bible-based disciple for Jesus. Always start with the Word of God because it contains specific directives and guidelines with Holy Spirit-instilled wisdom. Your plan will establish a path to build a lifelong legacy in Christ. It’s wise to rest and recharge to be emotionally and intellectually sharp when making or planning those decisions.

Remember, your child is a gift from God who belongs to him. Do not try to mold your child into the image of yourself, your spouse, your pastor, or anyone else you think is godly in character. God will do the molding. Your job is to help your child obtain a love for Jesus that is greater than any other love, even the love they have for you.

Besides planning, setting goals, and using tools, go a step further and write a family mission statement – a covenant with the Lord. Remember that it is more than just a plan; it is a guided process. A mission statement will clearly delineate your family’s goals to serve and honor the Lord, raise each child to love the Lord, and use the best resources to educate them in Christian values and doctrine effectively.

I hope and pray the ideas discussed in this episode help you to raise your children in a way that places Jesus in the prominent place of their hearts and minds.
